Fun Weekend

Last Saturday and Sunday was Xavier School’s Fair.

Super! Where Heroes Are Made.

This year the theme was Super Heroes so all the booths of Grade 7 to High 4 students were related to that theme.

Stal was the morning duty nurse while me and Fonz were the afternoon ones

The view from our “infirmary” at the football field. So many people!

After the fair, there was a variety show entitled #NowPlaying. Local bands and artists were invited to perform.

The concert was hosted by the Magic 89.9 DJs Angelicopter, Sam YG and Jessica Mendoza.

Ema came for the concert!

Jayson with Micah. <3 They came too for the concert.

The first local band to play was Spongecola. Yael sang 3 songs.

Then the crowd went wild because Somedaydream was next. Rez Toledo sang 3 songs too including his famous song, Hey Daydreamer.

Performers from other schools were also featured in the concert like Poveda’s EnciendeICA Dance TroupeSPCP TerpsichoreA-TeamThere’s Like ThatMad Hatter DayActually Not HereSay It Real FastRedshouse, XDX, Singing Ensemble.

Kamikazee brought down the house with the Narda song.

Then there was a mini Fashion Show featuring High School students. I was at the back so I was not able to take any pictures during the segment.

The last band to perform was the Parokya ni Edgar

The Dance X killed the last part of the concert. Everyone went crazy!

The concert ended just before midnight. It was a great day!

Fonz and I were on duty again for the 2nd day of the fair.

By 9 am, there were already students playing at the booths.

High 3 students enjoying the fair.

The fair also had rides like the Octopus, Swing Ride, Mini Pirate Ship Ride, Catterpillar Ride and a Horror ‘Train’.

The Blue & Gold Standard.

Just before the fair ended, the High 4 students went wild and run around the football field. It was like a stampede but so funny.

The day went well even though there were a lot of minor wounds and a burn accident.

I had fun in those 2 days. And Yey! No work today. :)

Grinding in Baguio II

Our first destination for our 2nd day in Baguio was the Lourdes Grotto.

The grotto is located on a high hill in the western part of the City. The image of the Our Lady of Lourdes is on the top hill.

You can reach the top by climbing 252 steps or driving your car through a winding, narrow road.

We stopped halfway to have Strawberry Taho. So yummy! :)

After climbing the Grotto. We went to Camp John Hay to take some more photos.

Before going back to the Inn, we had our lunch at PKNY Travel Cafe.

Show me where you go, and I’ll show you who you are” - Pynky Gomez-Magsino

The place was the fruit of the owner’s experiences during her trips around the country and around the world.

I love the mosaic photos of different places.

Red cozy sofa and colored vases by the window.

Their menu consists of dishes from different countries but with a twist. The ingredients are all homegrown which makes it more like ours.

Ema had the Pompei Pesto: Fettuccini with homemade pesto sauce made with basil, spices & olive oil served with garlic beard. And Strawberry Fruit Smoothie.

I ordered Pollo Teriyaki: Chicken breast grilled to perfection with pineapple teriyaki sauce served with rice and vegetables. And Strawberry Fresh Fruit Blend.

Ema with a cute small wooden luggage for our bill.

After lunch, we headed back to the Inn to pack our things. We then went to the Baguio Public Market to buy pasalubongs! :)

I bought some vegetables for my grandparents. I also bought Lengua de gato, Choc’o Flakes, Peanut Brittle, Fresh Strawberries and Strawberry Jam for my friends.

We left the bus station at exactly 5pm and we arrived safely in Manila by 11pm.

We had so much fun in those two days. Next time our stay will be much longer. :)

Grinding in Baguio I

Since there was no work last Monday because of Chinese New Year, Ema and I decided to go to Baguio! Overnight stay from Sunday to Monday. I was there last February 2011 with some friends.

Too bad Mae and Mai can’t join us because they have something very important to attend to.

Before going to Baguio, we joined some of our friends chilling at Central Cash&Carry.

We stayed there for an hour before going to the bus station. The bus left at exactly 2am. We arrived in Baguio before 8am. It was so cold! :)

Since it was a long journey we were so hungry so we ate breakfast at Cafe by the Ruins.

Inside the cafe, you can still see the old posts and pillars of the first American Governor of Benguet, Phelps Whitmarsh’ house, that is why it’s called Cafe by the Ruins.

The place looks really beautiful inside. The atmosphere was really relaxing. It was also well decorated with wooden furniture and paintings.

I ordered the French Toast with Bacon. It was so delicious!

Ema had the Farmer’s Morning Feast: Bacon, Egg and Black Rice.

All I can say is that the bacon was really yummy! :)

We passed by the Baguio Cathedral. There was an ongoing mass but we didn’t understand it because it was in Ilocano so we just prayed for a while.

We then stayed at SM Baguio

Shirt from Daily Grind, Pants from Dockers, Shoes from DC, Speck/Ipod Nano watch.

The view was spectacular. You can see the houses built on the side of the mountains.

Our next stop was the Botanical Garden/Igorot Village. The place is actually undergoing renovation but some parts are still open for the public.

Ema outside one of the Igorot houses.

We went to the Inn by 1pm to rest and freshen up.

We then had our late lunch at Forest House. The place is very warm and cozy. You  can really sit back, relax and enjoy the place.

Ema in her animal print dress. Is it giraffe? :)

My college best bud, Ella, joined us for lunch. The last time I saw her was in 2009, almost 3 years already! She’s still the same bubbly and funny Ella I knew. I missed her so much.

I had the Wine Sauced Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and Mixed Veggies.

It tastes like Chicken Curry and I loved it! So mouth-watering. :)

Ema had the Korean Beef Ribs served with rice. She said it’s like the local Lechon Paksiw. haha

Ella had the Baked Chicken Thigh . She said it’s like Chicken Adobo only better.

We also ordered Carbonara Fettuccine that we didn’t eat because we’re so full. We just asked them to wrap it for us. (It became our dinner food and it was really good.)

Me with my 2 best buds, Ema and Ella. (Sad, no Mae and Mai)

Our next destination was the Mines View Park but unfortunately, there were so many people so we barely got a nice shot there.

So after few minutes we went to Burnham Park to walk around. We stayed there for an hour.

We then went back to the Inn to rest and eat our take-home Carbonara.

Our stay will never be complete if we didn’t have a massage. So we tried the 1-hr body massage at Himaya Spa. It was okay but the massage was too hard.

Our first day was very tiring but we really enjoyed it. :)

Life Is Like A Cup of Coffee

Last night, after eating dinner at Yellow Cab, Ema and I chilled at my favorite coffee shop, Cafe de Lipa.

I noticed the coffee place last November 2010. It is situated at the ground floor east side of Market! Market! It is one of the 4 branches, the other 3 all located in Lipa City, Batangas.

I really like the place, it is cozy and laid-back. Inside you can smell the aroma of the coffee beans and listen to the latest music played in piano. Plus, there is FREE wifi. :)

Aside from coffee, you can also indulge yourself with different pastries that can be paired to your favorite coffee. My favorite is the Oatmeal Chewies

They also offer different Althaus Teas if you don’t feel like having coffee. I like the Persischer Apfel.

You can also enjoy the coffee they offer in the comforts of your home.

This is a part of the painting inside the cafe.

Iced Caramel Macchiato and Caramel Creme Celleto

Ema looks like she’s going in a Go-See.

Ever since then I always go here to have my favorite Iced Caramel Macchiato. I invited my friends to try their coffee and they loved it.

So if you want to try something new and different, then take a cup of their coffee. You’ll be surprised that it’s more delicious and affordable than the other international counterparts out there.

Enjoy your coffee and don’t always worry about the cup – it’s not the most important thing! :)

Izumi x Rue Bourbon

Night out with friends: Angelo, Wise, Michael, Miguel and Ema.

We started the night at Izumi Sake Bar and Restaurant at Burgos Circle, Taguig.

Izumi means fountain or spring in Japanese. Fountain of Youth :)

The place is cozy and will give you the feeling that you are in Tokyo. Sugoi!

We Found Love beat eh? hehe

Buy-1-Take-1 on some cocktails. Not bad. :) [but NO sharing though]

Last night, my good friend, Angelo, invited me and some of our friends to have dinner at Rue Bourbon in Salcedo Village, Makati.

The place looks great! The food was delicious! But Ema and I were so hungry we forgot to take pictures of them.
